2020-2021 Field Trips

Anyone may join us for field trips. You may choose to drive your own car, or you may carpool. The length of some trips may depend upon the weather and the individual interests of the participants. All field trips are free unless otherwise noted in the description.

**Please note the following:

All field trip dates, meeting places, and meeting times are subject to change.

Preregistration is required for all trips unless specified otherwise. If you are interested in a particular field trip, please click on the appropriate link beneath the trip description to register or to request more information about the trip, at least two weeks in advance, and include the Field Trip Name/Date in the "Subject" section to ensure that the message will be read and forwarded to the trip leader.

All persons under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by an adult.

--------------------

**Important Note**

Some operating systems and/or web browsers might not support the “Register/Get Information for this Trip” link. Clicking on this link should open an email page with the subject line filled in. If this does not happen, then just email us at gwvasmail@gwvas.org

and include the field trip name in the subject line.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience with our occasional inability to negotiate that vast region known as “cyberspace.”

**More Important Information**

After becoming aware that organizations similar to the GWVAS require participants in certain activities to sign a liability release form, the GWVAS Officers and Directors have decided to follow the lead of those organizations by requiring that those participating in certain in-person activities sign a release form. While we apologize for the inconvenience, we are trying to act in the Chapter’s best interests.

A downloadable release form in pdf format is available by clicking HERE. We ask that participants complete the form in advance and that they bring the completed form to the activity. For those who lack internet access, or who otherwise are unable to obtain and complete the form in advance, we will have blank forms available at the activity location.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience as we weather these uncertain times.

Birding in the Kirby Park Natural Area

Registration Required

Leader: John Dickinson

When: Typically on the FOURTH SATURDAY of Each Month; 8:00 am

Meet in the Nesbitt Park boat launch parking lot, which can be reached by turning onto First Ave from Pierce Street in Kingston. From Wilkes-Barre, First Ave is the first right-hand turn after the Veterans Memorial Bridge (a.k.a. Pierce Street bridge; North Street bridge). From Kingston, First Ave is the last left-hand turn before the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Drive over the levee and follow the road to the parking lot near the Market Street Bridge.

With a species list totaling some 160, we never know what surprises might await us. Join us to see what birds are in the Park.

Note that sometimes the date of the walk is changed due to weather and/or the leader’s availability. Please check the particular month, or Contact the GWVAS to enquire about the date.
